Designing with Heart: How My Kids Inspire PB Artwork

A personal touch that deepens PB's brand story.

When people ask where PB’s artwork comes from, I always smile—because the answer isn’t found in a studio, a sketchbook, or a trend forecast.
It’s found in my home, in my kids, and in the way they see the world with curiosity, humor, and an endless sense of wonder.

PB may be a pet accessories brand, but at its core, it’s a family story. And the heart of that story comes from the two little humans whose middle names inspired our name: Peyton and Blue.

Here’s how they shape every design you see.

1. They Remind Me to See the Magic in Everyday Moments

Kids have this effortless way of noticing beauty where adults often rush past it.

A shadow that looks like a bunny.
A leaf swirling in the wind.
A pattern hidden inside a flower.

When my kids excitedly point things out—“Mama look!”—that moment becomes a seed for a new illustration. Their imagination is pure, unfiltered, and free. And PB’s artwork reflects that same sense of small, surprising magic: the quiet kind you only catch when you slow down.

2. They Love Stories… and That’s Why PB Designs Tell One

At bedtime, they ask for stories—not just any stories, but ones filled with adventure, kindness, forests, stars, and talking animals with big personalities.

So much of PB’s art draws directly from these story moments:

  • Forest trails that look like pages from a fairytale

  • Ropes, ribbons, and tassels that dance like enchanted props

  • Moons and stars that glow with childlike wonder

Even our storybook packaging was born from wanting PB to feel like opening a tale—one that celebrates pets as part of the family’s narrative.

3. They Inspire the Whimsy and the Softness in Every Detail

My kids love things that feel “comforting.”
Textures that feel soft.
Colors that feel gentle.
Illustrations that feel inviting rather than loud.

That’s why PB designs lean into:

  • Cozy vintage blues

  • Soft florals

  • Gentle curves instead of harsh lines

  • Motifs that feel nostalgic and warm

There is a tenderness in their preferences, and it translates into the PB aesthetic—art that feels loving, safe, and full of heart.

4. They Help Me See the World Through Play

Kids move through life with play first.
They’re not afraid to experiment, mix colors wildly, draw outside the lines, or imagine new possibilities.

This playfulness gives me permission to:

  • Try unexpected motifs

  • Mix traditional and whimsical elements

  • Create patterns that feel joyful rather than “perfect”

  • Bring a sense of fun into every collection

PB feels the way it does because it was never meant to be overly polished—it was meant to feel alive.

5. They Ground the Brand in Love—The Same Love We Feel for Our Pets

At the end of the day, PB is built on the same kind of love we pour into our children:

  • wanting them to feel safe

  • wanting them to feel seen

  • wanting to create small joys in their daily life

Our pets are family too.
And the care I put into each bandana is the same care I put into designing things for my kids—soft, durable, thoughtful, deeply personal.

The Heart of PB Is Family

Peyton Blue isn’t just a brand.
It’s a reflection of the life we’re living—snippets of storybook afternoons, messy art sessions, midnight cuddle piles, and silly little moments my kids bring into the world.

Every PB illustration carries a piece of that love.
Every print begins as a sketch made in a studio filled with kids’ laughter and Kiki snoring somewhere nearby.

PB is family-made, family-inspired, and family-hearted — and I hope you feel that with every unboxing, every bandana, and every wag of joy from your pup.
